surf charente maritime

A must-see surf spot

The Vert-Bois surf spot is very popular with local surfers.

From the campsite it’s easy! Put on your wetsuit, cross the road and the woods, and just 1,200 m later, you’re ready to go with your surfboard under your arm.

Surfing is possible all year round, especially from March to October. In season, a rental shack for boards and wetsuits is located at the edge of the beach, opposite a food-truck. Another spot not far from the campsite, Plage des Allassins, is very popular for its long, shallow waves. Here you’ll find the Take Off surf school run by one of Oleron’s leading surfers.

A family story

It was my grandparents who bought this Oléronaise farm, which was to be the scene of agricultural and wine production, forestry and a paradise for farm animals: chickens, ducks, dairy cows and draught horses.

With the advent of paid vacations, wilderness camping began to develop, and my Grandfather and Father regularly met campers in the meadow who asked for a holiday.

This conviviality and the evolution of tourism prompted my father to think about this camping project, which was born with the help of my mother in 1985. At the time, we opened with just 60 pitches. This is traditional camping, where people gather around stoves and gas lamps, close to nature. At the request of our customers, our services have evolved with the boom in mobile homes, followed by unusual accommodation.

camping familial oleron

Today, more than ever, we’re committed to defending our Oleron DNA, a caring, ethical and sustainable tourism that’s close to our environment and for everyone! Traditional camping pitches for some and comfort/glamping accommodation for others.

Whether you’re a sportsman, a disabled person, a solo traveler, a couple, a family, with your pets, by car, by boat, by bike, on foot, by bus… for 1 night or 2 or 3 or more, there’s a solution for everyone.

The whole team is proud to bring you the service, the smile, the kindness, the good advice and the good deals of the Ile d’Oléron, these values that we share with you Sonia, Arnaud, my Mother and me.

Looking forward to meeting you, Cécilia.
